Jharsuguda Sizzles at 46°C: MLA Conducts Heatwave Preparedness Review Across Town

Jharsuguda: Braving the sweltering 46°C heat, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy stepped out on Wednesday to review the town’s preparedness to tackle the ongoing heatwave. The BJP leader conducted a field visit covering several hotspots in the city including Beheramal Chowk, Sarbahal Chowk, and Chowkipada Chowk, to assess civic arrangements and direct immediate action.

Tripathy instructed the Executive Officer of Jharsuguda Municipality to promptly install sheds at key public points across the town to provide relief to pedestrians and commuters. He emphasized that Jharsuguda has consistently ranked among the hottest locations in India—and sometimes even globally—during this summer season.

Citing a recent incident where a shed at Beheramal Chowk was blown away by a cyclone, the MLA directed that the shed be reinstalled and completed by tomorrow. He also announced that a new shed would be completed at the busy Station Chowk by tomorrow, offering some respite to the public commuting through the area.

Further instructions were issued for constructing sheds near the Railway Station, Sarbahal, and Chowkipada crossing, all to be managed under the supervision of Jharsuguda Municipality. Tripathy added that by tomorrow evening, temporary shelters would be set up at all traffic posts and railway crossings.

In addition to these measures, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opened water kiosks at five locations in the city today. More such kiosks will be established by tomorrow in critical areas, where ORS solutions will also be provided. The MLA also directed the municipal authorities to ensure clean drinking water is made available for animals and birds.

Tripathy appealed to the public to avoid stepping out during peak hours unless absolutely necessary and encouraged people to stay indoors during the severe heatwave.

He also announced that along National Highway No. 10, two major sheds would be constructed between Talpattia Chowk and Badamal Chowk in Jharsuguda. These would be completed within the next two days.

“The BJP government is fully committed to public service and is taking every step to provide relief during this harsh summer,” Tripathy stated.

The review visit saw the presence of several dignitaries and civic leaders including Municipal Executive Officer Bimalendu Bhol, Sonu Thirani, Santosh Yadav, Taran Didwani, Umang Agrawal, Chirag Poddar, Vivek Srivastava, and Arvind Pathak.
