District-Level Odisha Day Celebrations: Collector Calls for Collective Commitment to Make Odisha a Leading State

Jharsuguda: During the district-level Odisha Day celebrations, the chief guest, Collector Aboli Sunil Narwane, highlighted the struggles, conflicts, and sacrifices that led to Odisha’s recognition as an independent province. She emphasized that Odisha was the first state to be formed on a linguistic basis.

Speaking at the event organized at the local Sanskriti Bhavan premises, the collector mentioned that the Odia language, literature, and culture are sources of pride. She urged everyone to work towards transforming Odisha into a leading state.

On this occasion, the collector paid tribute to notable personalities such as Gopabandhu Das, Veer Surendra Sai, Gangadhar Meher, Prasanna Panda, and Bihari Ram Tanti. Several dignitaries, including District Council Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Prabir Kumar Nayak, Additional Collectors Brajabandhu Bhoi and Kishore Chandra Swain, participated in the event. Revenue Minister’s representative Raghunandan Panda and Nawal Agrawal were also present.

As part of the district-level Odisha Day ceremony, guests paid floral tributes to great personalities and eminent figures. The event also included a speech competition for high school students, where winners were awarded certificates and prizes. Similarly, cultural groups that participated in the organized performances were also honored with certificates and awards.

District Child Protection Officer Sunanda Maharana conducted the program, while Sejal Pradhan coordinated the cultural events.

In the morning, floral tributes were offered at various locations in the city to statues of great leaders and freedom fighters, including Veer Surendra Sai, Gangadhar Meher, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mahatma Gandhi, Bihari Ram Tanti, Gopabandhu Das, Biju Patnaik, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Prasanna Panda.

The district administration, in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Office and the District Language, Literature, and Culture Office, successfully organized all the events for the occasion.
