Four Arrested in Jharsuguda Firing Incident; Police Seize illegal Weapon

Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda Police on Monday arrested four individuals in connection with a firing incident that took place on Sunday evening, February 23, 2025.

The accused have been identified as Yuvraj Singh alias Banty (34) and Bhanu Pratap Singh alias Bicky (30), both residents of Bhuliatikra, Beheramal, Jharsuguda, along with Bipin Kumar Singh (43) and Abhishek Gurung (27), both residents of OMP, Jharsuguda.

Providing details on the case, Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Smit P. Parmar stated, “Yesterday, we received information regarding a firing incident at Bhuliatikra under Jharsuguda Police Station limits. The complainant, Aditya Parua, a resident of Bhuliatikra, reported that a dispute over the construction of his wall led to the accused firing at him. Fortunately, he was saved as the bullet got stuck inside his mobile phone. Acting swiftly, Jharsuguda Police formed a dedicated team to track down the accused. After conducting raids at multiple locations, all accused were arrested, and the weapon was seized.”

Parmar further added, “We are continuously conducting drives to curb illegal arms in the district. So far, more than 100 individuals have been forwarded to court for possessing illegal weapons.”

During the operation, police also seized a Maruti Dzire car, a country-made pistol, mobile phones belonging to the accused, and the damaged mobile phone of the complainant.

The police have intensified their crackdown on illegal arms to ensure public safety and prevent such violent incidents in the future.
