Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green Submits Memorandum to District Collector on World No Tobacco Day

Jharsuguda: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, members of the Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green organized an awareness initiative and met with the District Collector, Jharsuguda to advocate for stronger tobacco control measures and public health awareness.

A delegation of Rotary Club members led by Club President Anand Goel, Club Secretary CA Amit Agrawal & Assistant Governor Sajid Hussain called on District Collector, Jharsuguda and submitted a memorandum highlighting the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and the urgent need for intensified efforts to curb tobacco use, particularly among youth.

The memorandum urged the district administration to strengthen enforcement of anti-tobacco laws, promote awareness campaigns in educational institutions and public places and ensure strict compliance with regulations prohibiting the sale of tobacco products near schools and other sensitive areas.

During the meeting, Rotary Club representatives emphasized that tobacco use remains one of the leading causes of preventable diseases and deaths worldwide. They appealed for coordinated action involving government agencies, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and civil society groups to create a tobacco-free environment.

The District Collector appreciated the Rotary Club’s initiative and assured the delegation that the administration would continue to support awareness and enforcement activities aimed at reducing tobacco consumption and protecting public health.
