Odisha’s Chief Minister Announces Pension Hike for Construction Workers Effective February 2024

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a hike in the pension for construction workers. The beneficiaries of this increase are those registered under the ‘Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’, who are part of the construction workers’ pension scheme.

The decision came after Shri Karthik Pandian, Chairman of 5-T, was apprised of the workers’ concerns during his visit. The workers and their representatives from various regions had brought this issue to the Chairman’s attention.

As per the revised policy, construction workers aged 60 and above will now receive a monthly pension of Rs 1,000, up from the previous Rs 500. For those aged 80 and above, the pension has been increased from Rs 700 to Rs 1,200.

This revised pension scheme will be implemented from February 2024, with the necessary expenses being covered by the Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
