Odisha’s Anganwadi Workers to Earn More: CM Naveen Patnaik Announces Pay Hike

Bhubaneswar: In a move that brings cheer to anganwadi workers, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has declared a significant increase in their salaries. The revised pay, which sees an increment of Rs 2,500, elevates the monthly wages of anganwadi workers from Rs 7,500 to Rs 10,000.

In a similar vein, mini-anganwadi workers will see their remuneration rise from Rs 5,350 to Rs 7,250, while anganwadi assistant will now earn Rs 5,000, up from Rs 3,750. These pay hikes will be effective in October 2023.

This enhancement in remuneration, which will require an additional annual expenditure of Rs 350 crore for the state government, is set to benefit around 1.48 lakh workers.

Furthermore, retired workers will also see a substantial increase in their benefits. Those who were receiving Rs 40,000 will now get Rs 1 lakh, while those who were getting Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 will now receive Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively. In the unfortunate event of death or incapacitation during service, a sum of Rs 2 lakh will be provided, and in case of an accident, Rs 1 lakh will be given.
