Odisha CM Inaugurates various Developmental projects and Piped Drinking Water Project

Jharsuguda: In a significant move towards urban transformation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated a series of development projects in �Belpahar, and Brajrajnagar towns. The highlight of these initiatives is the improvement of the drinking water supply, a step that is expected to enhance the quality of life for the city�s residents.

The Chief Minister laid the groundwork for 27 water supply projects across 24 cities and 60 more in 35 cities.

The Water for these projects in Jharsuguda, Belpahar, and Brajrajnagar towns, sourced from the Hirakud reservoir, are set to revolutionise water supply in these regions.

In addition to these, various projects under the Urban Development Department were also inaugurated through video conferencing. The Chief Minister emphasised that these initiatives are part of a broader development plan being implemented on five fronts, aimed at uplifting the urban poor and giving them a sense of identity.

The �Drink from Tap Mission� programme, a cornerstone of the state�s urban development strategy, was also highlighted. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of clean drinking water, stating that it could alleviate half of the health issues faced by the population.

He detailed the distribution plan, with Jharsuguda, Brajrajnagar, and Belpahar cities set to receive 19 MLD, 12 MLD, and 7 MLD of water, respectively, out of the total 38 MLD. The event, held at the WATCO in Brajrajnagar, saw Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari and Brajrajnagar MLA Alka Mohanty as the chief guests. She lauded Jharsuguda district for being the first in the country to provide piped drinking water to every household, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration of the local populace.
