Jharsuguda District Legal Services Authority Conducts Awareness Program on Various issues of Migrant Workers
Jharsuguda: To address the challenges faced by migrant workers, the Jharsuguda District Legal Services Authority organized a comprehensive awareness program on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The event took place in the conference room of the authority, following the directives of Digambar Prusty, Chairman, District and Sessions Judge, and District Legal Services Authority.
Distinguished guests including� Ashwini Kumar Nayak, Chairman of the Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Service),� Loknath Sahu, Judge of the Family Court, Ms. Neha Das, Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Smt. Sajda Begum, Chief Legal Aid Defence Advocate, Smt. Dhamali Patel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Advocate, and Bimal Kumar Das, Labour Inspector from the District Labour Office, graced the occasion.
The program aimed at raising awareness about the myriad issues faced by migrant workers, para-legal volunteers, and laborers. The attendees actively engaged in discussions to understand the challenges and explore potential solutions to improve the conditions of these workers.
As part of the initiative, the District Labour Office, represented by Bimal Kumar Das, took a significant step by issuing labour identity cards to unorganized workers identified by para-legal volunteers affiliated with the District Legal Services Authority. This move is expected to bring greater visibility and recognition to the labour force and ensure their rights and entitlements are protected.
The event highlighted the commitment of the Jharsuguda District Legal Services Authority to proactively addressing societal concerns and fostering a sense of empowerment among the workforce, particularly migrant workers. The collaborative efforts of legal professionals, judicial authorities, and labor officials underscore the importance of such initiatives in creating a more inclusive and just society.
