Jharsuguda to Get New Multi-Specialty and Cancer Care Hospital

Jharsuguda: In a major boost to healthcare in Jharsuguda district, the Odisha government has signed agreements with private partners to develop a 100-bed multi-specialty hospital and a 120-bed super-specialty cancer care hospital in the district.
While Vizag Hospitals & Cancer Research Centre will develop the cancer care hospital, a consortium between Cygnus Medicare and Printlink Computer & Communication will develop the multi-specialty hospital. The projects will be developed with an investment of close to ?500 crore and will generate job opportunities for over 1,000 medical, paramedical, nursing, and administrative professionals.
The new hospitals will cater to the healthcare needs of more than 6 million people in Jharsuguda and surrounding districts. They will also substantially reduce travel time and out-of-pocket expenses for patients who currently travel to Bhubaneswar or Cuttack for treatment.
Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das said that the new hospitals are a realisation of her father, the late Naba Kishore Das’s, dream of “Nutana Nirmana” for Jharsuguda. She thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his approval of the projects.
The development of new healthcare facilities in Jharsuguda is a welcome step. It will provide much-needed access to quality healthcare for the people of the district. The new hospitals are also expected to create jobs and boost the local economy.
