Jharsuguda Police Arrest Two Inter-State Burglars

Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda police on Tuesday nabbed two inter-state burglars involved in a series of thefts at Jharsuguda and other neighbouring areas. They usually show fake documents seeking donations in the name of Orphanages and target the houses and commit the crime. Police have recovered two laptops and 22 mobile phones from them and other stolen items.

Police identified the accused as Mahendra Venkatraman (25) of Periyapalayam and Prakash Venkatesh (19) T.T Mottur, from Peranambattu, Nellore, Tamil Naidu.

Brajrajnagar SDPO Chintamani Padhan said, “As per the complaint filed by one Somnath Mahto (22) of Adarsh Nagar Brundaban Colony, Beheramal regarding burglary from his rented house, when some unknown culprits broke into the house and stole laptops, credit cards, ATM cards, Rs 4,900 in cash, and a mobile phone. The case was registered and investigated following the written report filed by Mahto. Alongside this incident, other burglary cases involving the theft of mobile phones have also been reported. Acting on the direction of Jharsuguda SP, a special team was formed to crack the case.

During the investigation, the special team identified and arrested two suspects and recovered several stolen items from the possession of the accused, including One HP laptop, One Dell laptop, 22 mobile handsets of various brands, Stolen wallet, credit cards, and other documents. Their modus of operandi was that they use to seek money by showing fake donation letters in the name of Orphanages and usually they do a recce of houses in which people working in industries and have shift duties; after finding the opportunity they enter the house and commit burglary and fled away from the spot.

Police said that they are investigating the matter and finding if any greater number of individuals are involved in this gang. However, we request the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
