Cyber Awareness Campaign to be launched from 30th September

Jharsuguda : Cyber Crime cases are increasing everywhere in the country, and so is it in Odisha. In spite of taking legal action against cyber fraudsters, still cybercrime is increasing. One of the major reasons for this is, due to a lack of awareness in society regarding various kinds of cybercrime and how to remain safe in the digital world.

Odisha Police in association with other departments of Odisha Govt. and 15 Banks is going to organize a State Level Cyber Safety Campaign from 30th Sept to 15th Oct 2023. The main objective of this mass social campaign is to spread awareness about Cyber Crimes in society, among all sections, and age groups, and to educate them about cyber safety. Apart from the Banking industry, IT Industry, many academic institutions are also actively participating in the campaign.

This campaign would be held in offline and online mode, so as to reach the maximum possible population. The offline mode would commence with the Flagging off of thirty-four (34) Cyber Safety Raths by Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Odisha at 5 PM on 30” September 2023 from Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. These Cyber Safety Raths would then fan out across the state and touch all Block Headquarters and Police Stations in the next two

weeks. They would be disseminating cyber safety awareness messages through audio, visual, and prudent modes in the local language/dialect.

These Raths would enter the District Campaign from 2nd October. The Cyber Safety Raths would be moving around the districts on a pre-announced route. EnRoute Cyber Safety Rath would stop at public places like Markets, Local Haats, Public Offices, Hamlets etc., and play the audio/ video messages of cyber safety. From 3rd October, Workshop/ Quiz Competition on Cyber Safety will be held every day in at

least 2 educational institutes in each district. The Cyber Safety Rath would be accompanied by Professionals who can converse about Cyber Safety in the local language.

During the course of the campaign, a Road Run and Cyclothon would be organized on the morning of 8.10.2023 to spread awareness about cyber safety. A household campaign with cyber safety awareness talk and distribution of cyber safety pamphlets would commence with the active participation of members of Mission Shakti, Anganwadi workers, ASHA Karmis, Red Cross, NGOs, etc. from 9.10.2023, to make the campaign objective reach the grassroots. An evening walk will be held on 14.10.2023 by senior citizens, women, and children to spread the message of Cyber Safety.

During this time, online campaigns would be going on continuously with the spreading of cyber safety messages through various social media platforms, radio, visual, and print media. Also, a couple of online competitions on cyber safety would be held at the District as well as State level involving all age groups and sections of society.

A social media handle @cybercopodisha has been created in ’X’ (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for the latest updates on Cyber Safely.

It is requested to kindly support this mass social campaign by actively participating in it and also spread the message of cyber safety across our society

Aim and object of Cyber Awareness Rath:

To prevent cyber fraud, awareness campaigning will commence throughout the state w.e.f. 02.10.2023. The main aim and object of this awareness campaign is to spread cyber awareness messages among the general public to avoid cyber fraud through audio-visual mode, printed materials, and well as in Social-Media.

For this purpose, the welcome ceremony will be organized at Manmohan ME School Ground Jharsuguda on 02.10.2022 evening where the campaigning process in Jharsuguda Dist. will be commenced.

The Rath will move throughout the district covering all the Police Stations, Block Headquarters, some GPs, Educational Institutes like Schools arid colleges as per the scheduled plan accompanied by the cyber experts.

The students of Schools and Colleges will be educated about the awareness of cyber-crime and its remedies. Similarly, in marketplaces and other public gatherings video shows, street corner play, and meetings will be organized. In public places, the banners, holdings, and wall paintings will be exhibited.

Road Runs, Motor Cycle rallies, Cycle Rallies, door-to-door campaigning, play on awareness, Quiz Competitions, and painting, will be organized during the campaigning.

General Public, Press, PSI Members, Students, teachers, Bankers, Service Providers of different mobile services, Mission Shakti, Govt. Officials, Anganwadi, Asha Karmi, NGOs, Lions Clubs, and Youth Clubs are invited to actively participate in this program.

In Jharsuguda Dist., we have planned 45 programs from 02.10.2023 to 15.10.2023. on 15.10.2023 the closing ceremony of the campaigning will be held at Manmohan ME School Ground.

On 14.10.2023 Motor Cycle rally – at Brajrajnagar.

On 02.10.2023 Flag off ceremony – at M.M.M .E. School Ground.
