Jharsuguda : Members of Lakhanpur Block Nagarik Parishad on Wednesday have decided to hold 12 12-hour bandh on coming 22nd September, demanding the division of Lakhanpur Block into 3 divisions for better governance.

In this regard, the members have submitted a memorandum to Jharsuguda District Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane and Jharsuguda SP Smith P. Parmar

As per the letter, the existing Lakhanpur Block Comprises 33 Panchayats and it is one of the largest blocks in Odisha. We have been demanding the division of Lakhanpur Block into 3 divisions and declaring Lakhanpur Tehsil a Subdivision for many decades. However, till now nothing has happened and we still await for the government to take any steps.

“We have provided memorandum time and again to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary V.K. Pandian, Local MP, MLA, Leaders of Opposition, and concerned officers at different levels. But No initiatives have been taken to fulfill our long-awaited demand. So, we the members of Nagarik Parsad of Lakhanpur Block have called for 12 hours band on 22nd September from dawn to dusk. With closer of all Govt. and Pvt. offices and also blocking of National Highway 49.  However, the Medical Services and basic amenities will be exempted.” Said Pitambar Mishra, President Lakhanpur Block Nagarik Parishad
