Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League Concludes in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: The Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League, organised by the Odisha Pencak Dilat Association, concluded at the Badminton Hall of OSAP Second Battalion in Jharsuguda on August 23, 2023. The competition was held from August 22 to 23 and saw the participation of over 2000 contestants from 17 districts and schools across Odisha.
The competition was inaugurated by Jharsuguda MLA Dipali Das and attended by the Chief Guest, Commandant O.S.A.P. Second Battalion Jharsuguda, Ashish Kumar Dubey. Other guests included Sarbadanand Singh, Vice President of Projects and Personal Relations, JSW Bhushan, Mehtab Khan, Prajwal Patel, Ganesh Naik, Prashant Mohanty, and others.
The winners of the competition were congratulated by the guests and the organizing president of Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League, Odisha Pencak Silat President� Tapas Kumar Roy Choudhury, and organizing Director Guru Prem Singh Thapa. Other members of the organizing committee, including Arabinda Barik and Anankar Bhanj, were also present.
Tapas Kumar Roy Choudhury and Guru Prem Singh Thapa thanked SAI and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur for including Pencak Silat in Khelo India and recognizing competitions like the Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League.
The Khelo India Women’s Pencak Silat League is a step towards promoting the sport of Pencak Silat among women in Odisha. The competition has helped identify talented athletes who can represent the state at the national and international levels.
