Cybercriminal Poses as IRCTC Executive, Swindles Jharsuguda Man of Rs 1.98 Lakh
Jharsuguda: A man from Jharsuguda Swindles of Rs 1.98 lakh after he clicked on a fraud link sent by a cybercriminal who posed as an IRCTC customer care executive. The victim, identified as an employee of Bhushan Company, had booked a train ticket through the IRCTC website. However, the ticket was not generated and the money was deducted from his account.
As per the Information The victim booked a train ticket through the IRCTC website, but the ticket was not generated. He then searched for the IRCTC customer care number on Google and called the number. The caller, who posed as an IRCTC customer care executive, asked the victim to click on a link to resolve the issue.
As soon as the victim clicked on the link, Rs 1,98,000 was deducted from his account. The victim later realised that he had been duped and filed a complaint with the Jharsuguda Sadar police station. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
In a similar incident, a cybercriminal cheated Jharsuguda lawyer Vikas Panda of Rs 2,520 in the name of booking a room in Puri. The cybercriminal sent a link to Panda, who clicked on it without verifying its authenticity. As soon as he clicked on the link, Rs 2,520 was deducted from his account.
