Jharsuguda: A lawyer in Jharsuguda, Vikas Panda, was cheated of Rs 2520 by a cyber fraudster on Thursday. Panda had gone to the official website of a guest house in Puri and called the number mentioned on the website to book a room. He was then asked to deposit Rs. 2520 as an advance. He paid this amount.
Later, another person called him and identified himself as the manager of the guest house. The caller asked Panda to make a Google Pay transaction by providing an ID for registration. However, Panda realised that the ID was for a transaction of Rs 19,326 and stopped the transaction.
Panda then called the number again, but the caller did not answer. He then called the police and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
