Jharsuguda: At least 12 people were injured, including both drivers, in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on National Highway 49 near Lakhnupur in Jharsuguda district on Wednesday evening.
The bus, named Radharani, was traveling from Raigarh to Jharsuguda when it collided with the truck, which was headed in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision caused the bus to overturn and the truck to jackknife.
The injured were taken to the Lakhnupur Community Health Center, where eight of them were treated for minor injuries and released. Two of the injured, including both drivers, were referred to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but police believe that the bus may have been speeding and may have been trying to overtake the truck when the collision occurred.
