Heatwave Scorches Jharsuguda, Temperatures Touch 45.6°C
Bhubaneswar: Severe heatwave conditions continued in Odisha on Friday, with temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius in 16 places in the state. In another 22 places, the temperature was above 40 degrees.
Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Sambalpur at 45.2 degrees Celsius, Sonpur at 44.8 degrees Celsius, Hirakud at 44.7 degrees Celsius, Boudh at 44.6 degrees Celsius, Bolangir at 44 degrees, and Sundargarh at 43.8 degrees. Lasius, similarly, recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius in Bhawanipatna and Rourkela; Titilagarh recorded 43.5 degrees Celsius; and Talcher recorded 43.2 degrees Celsius.
According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the temperature was above 43 degrees at 11 places in Western Odisha today.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has predicted that the heatwave conditions will continue for another three days. The temperature is likely to be 3-5 degrees above normal in some parts of Odisha during this period.
