Jharsuguda Bypoll: Seizure of Rs. 3.48 Lakh Cash from Car during Inspection
Jharsuguda: The upcoming by-poll in Jharsuguda has seen political parties ramp up their campaigning efforts in a bid to attract voters. However, authorities are also stepping up their efforts to ensure a free and fair election.
The flying squad and police have been conducting inspections at various locations, leading to the seizure of a significant amount of cash. On Monday evening, a car was stopped near the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Biju Expressway near Kherual, and seized Rs. 3,48,000 was found inside a car, bearing license number OD15V 2554, and the driver, Akhil Patel, from Ulunda village in the Meeulpali police station area of Sambalpur district, was detained.
Officials have been directed to strictly follow Election Commission guidelines and ensure proper compliance with enforcement procedures. An observer has warned that free, fair, and impartial election management and elections will be enforced.
In addition to these measures, authorities are checking vehicles, detaining individuals carrying a fixed amount of money and liquor, obtaining details, monitoring criminal elements, and submitting licensed guns to the concerned authorities. These measures are all being taken to ensure a peaceful and fair by-poll in Jharsuguda.
