BJP decalres Tankadhar Tripathy as its Candidate for Jharsuguda By-election

Jharsuguda: On Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its candidate for the upcoming Jharsuguda by-poll, Tankadhar Tripathy. The announcement was made by the party’s Central Election Committee in the evening.

Expressing gratitude towards the people of Jharsuguda, Tankadhar said, “It is all due to the blessings of the Jharsuguda residents. The people, youths & women of Jharsuguda are all candidates of the BJP. This will be a fight between the common public and the 29 years of neglect meted out by the current government.”

Tankadhar Tripathy also commented on the situation, saying, “Instead of talking about our party conflict, the leaders of the ruling party should explain why Jharsuguda has to go through a by-election today. It is their internal conflicts that have led to this situation.”

Tankadhar will be facing off against Dipali Das, the candidate from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), and Tarun Pandey from the Indian National Congress (INC).

The by-poll in Jharsuguda was necessitated after the seat fell vacant due to the assassination of MLA and former Health Minister, Naba Das.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has already announced that the by-election for the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency will take place on May 10, with vote counting scheduled for May 13. Nominations for the by-poll can be submitted until April 20, and scrutiny of the nominations will be held on April 21. Nominations can be withdrawn until April 24.
