Brajrajnagar Police foil dacoity bid, arrests two miscreants

Jharsuguda : Brajrajnagar Police on Saturday foiled a dacoity bid and nabbed two miscreants while other associates managed to escape from Gandhi Chowk area in Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda District, while planning to commit dacoity late night in a nearby Petrol Pump.

Police identified the accused as Umesh Kumar Yadav alias Bhaijan (38), resident of Lamtibahal, Gwalapada, Brajrajnagar and Ghanshyam Sahu alias Ghansu (35), a resident of Madhuban nagar, Brajrajnagar.

As per the report, while performing night Patrolling, Brajrajnagar police received information regarding assembling of veteran criminal Umesh Yadav along with other five associates equipped with arms near Barghat, backside of MCL Water supply pump, for planning to commit dacoity at Patel Petrol Pump, near Gandhi Chowk. Police had rushed to the spot and conducted a raid, while noticing that the police, the criminal Umesh Yadav had fired one round bullet on the police team, however no one was injured. After a long chase, the police team were able to nab Umesh along with Ghanshyam, while other associates managed to flee away from the spot.

Police seized one 7.65 mm Country made pistol along with magazine, one empty case fired ammunition, one bhujali, three mobile phones, two motorcycles (bearing no. OD -23 – 8821 and BR-04-AJ-6783), four nos. of disposal glasses. However, police have launched a manhunt to nab the absconding miscreants.

Police registered a case and arrested the accused under sections 399 (Making preparation to commit dacoity), 402 (Assembling for purpose of committing dacoity), 307 (Attempt to Murder) of IPC and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
