Spicejet Airlines starts direct flight service for Chennai, VSS Airport gets connected with all major metro cities of India.
Jharsuguda: SpiceJet Airlines on Friday launched its direct flight services to Chennai from Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSS), Jharsuguda. With this connectivity, now VSS Airport has been connected to all the major metros of India.
On the inaugural flight of SpiceJet, around 93 passengers arrive from Chennai and around 84 passengers departed from VSS Jharsuguda for Chennai.
As per the SpiceJet website, the flight will leave Chennai at 13:10 pm and will reach Jharsuguda at 15:00 pm. whereas the flight from Jharsuguda to Chennai, will leave Jharsuguda at 15:30 PM and will reach Chennai at 17:15 PM.
However, the inaugural flight arrived Jharsuguda at 15:20 pm and departed for Chennai at 15:50 pm
Jharsuguda Airport director Kishore Kumar Senapati said, “Today, Veer Surendra Sai Airport got connected with Chennai, it is a very happy moment for VSS Airport. Earlier in January, we had started flight connectivity with Mumbai and Bangalore, now with the connectivity to Chennai, VSS The airport has been connected with all the metro cities of India. I want to thank SpiceJet for this connectivity. Subsequently, local people who want to fly to Chennai for their medical needs can use this service. Apart from this, many other business sectors like tourism and others can also be open. I want to thank the passengers who are travelling on this first flight.”
“We are happy that this service has started, we had gone to Chennai while catching a flight from Bhubaneswar, but while coming from Chennai we got this flight. It is very helpful for us” said a traveller

Presently, Spicejet Airline has been operating flights for Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore from Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda
Apart from this Alliance Air has also been operating flights for Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Kolkata
