12,00 bottles of Cough syrup seized, 5 held
Jharsuguda : Jharsuguda police on Saturday seized 12,00 bottles of cough syrup and arrested five people involved in this connection.
Police identified the accused as S.K. Amzad (37) a resident of Mangal Bazaar, Ankush Bhagat alias Babu Bhagat (28), a resident of Mishra Talkies Gali , Amit Sahu (29) , a resident of Khetrajpur of Sambalpur District , Md. Gulam Asraf (29) a resident of Mangal bazaar and Bharat Singh Yadav (42) a resident of Jhupadipada, Railway Colony Jharsuguda.
Among these five accused, �S.K. Amzad , Ankush Bhagat and Amit Sahu has been involved in other cases of NDPS also.
As reported, on 26th March, while the enforcement duty of COVID duty at Beheramal road, Jharsuguda Police officials intercepted a Bolero Vehicle OR 23 � D- 8598, and checked the vehicle and seized around 12,00 bottles of cough syrup. While during the checking two persons fled away from the vehicle where as five persons were arrested.
Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police, Bikash Ch. Das said, �During thew Covid enforcement duty, Jharsuguda police officials had intercepted a Bolero Vehicle and when checked had found 1200 bottles of cough syrup and arrested five people. A bolero Vehicle and three mobiles have also been seized and after the medical check, they will be forwarded to court. �In this case, the other 3 accused persons including the supplier of the cough syrup, absconded. They are also involved in a number of cases at Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh area. Steps are being taken to apprehend them as early as possible.�
