Jharsuguda : Accused Gopal Das was produced before District & Sessions Judge Court here on Wednesday in connection with the murder of former O Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.
According to sources, Gopal Das was brought from Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack to Jharsuguda. Later in tight security, he was brought from OSAP Reserve Police Ground to District & Sessions Judge Court at District Court Complex in Jharsuguda.
The case was transferred to the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled on August 9th
As per the State defense Counsel Advocate Naresh Nayak said, “Today the accused Gopal Das had appeared at District & Sessions Judge court who transferred the case to ADJ court. Till now no Charges have been framed. The next hearing is on 9th August. I have been appointed as a State Counsel. I will take next course of action after examining the documents submitted by the police before the court”
“As Gopal said that he has no lawyer for his defense in the court. Naresh Nayak has been appointed as the State defense Counsel. Accused Gopal Das had confessed to have committed crime however, the court advised that this is not the stage to confess. Whatever you want to say, please stay in the ADJ Court during the next date of hearing.” Said Advocate Satya Narayan Bohidar
Former Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot by ASI Gopal Das at Gandhi Chowk in the Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district on January 29. The Accused ASI Gopal Das had Fired when the minister was about to come out of the car to attend an inauguration program. However, Das succumbed to bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at the private hospital. In this regard, the Crime Branch submitted the 544-page preliminary chargesheet to Jharsuguda JMFC Court on May 26.
