Jharsuguda : A 25-year-old son killed his 52-year-old father for thrashing his mother in a drunken state on wee hours of Wednesday under Badmal Police station Limits.
The deceased was identified as Laxman Chandra Behera (52) and accused was identified as Manik Chandra Behera (25), a resident of Harijan Pada, Banjari under Badmal Police station Limits.
As per reports, the deceased, Laxman Behera, use to come drunk home every time and use to have a quarrel with family members. On Wednesday night also, Laxman Behera had come home in a drunken state and started quarrelling with his wife, Lochana Behera(48) and seeing this his son, Manik tried to intervene into the matter when Laxman also started thrashing the son and even chased him to beat. In the fit of anger, his son Manik took a machete kept inside his house, which is used to cut date Palm (Khajoor), had attacked his father on his stomach and his neck and hands. Laxman was immediately taken to the Jharsuguda District Headquarter Hospital, and he was referred to VIMSAR, Burla, but on the way, he succumbs to death.
Badmal IIC Amitav Panda said, �Based on the complaint filed by Birendra Behera the younger brother of the deceased Laxman Chandra Behera, we had started an investigation and arrested the accused Manik under section 302 IPC and even seized the weapon used in committing the crime. We have forwarded the accused to court today.�
