Spicejet Airlines Commenced flights for Mumbai and Bangalore from VSS Airport, Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda: Spicejet Airlines on Tuesday commenced its direct flight services for Mumbai and Bengaluru, the most awaited sector from Veer Surendra Sai (VSS)Airport, Jharsuguda
This flight service has brought cheers to the western Odisha flyers settled at Bangalore and Mumbai. The Spicejet’s Boeing 737 flight arrived VSS Airport from Mumbai at 12:30 noon.
Jharsuguda Airport Director, Kishore Kumar Senapati said, “On the first day, around 73 passengers have travelled from Mumbai to Jharsuguda, while 162 Passengers have travelled from Jharsuguda to Bengaluru, whereas 107 passengers have travelled from Bengaluru to Jharsuguda and around 94 passengers have travelled from Jharsuguda to Mumbai.”
Celebrating the commencement of Flight services, a small function was held, where Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, Suresh Pujari (MP, Bargarh), Nitesh Gangadeb (MP, Sambalpur), Basant Panda (MP, Kalahandi), Jual Oram (MP, Sundargarh), Kishore Kumar Mohanty (MLA, Brajrajnagar) were present in the function. They all joined in a cake cutting ceremony to mark the celebration.

“I want to thank PM Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for starting the flight services for connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru. Even there is an expansion proposal of this Airport and incoming day this airport will become one of the major airport of the state,” said Sundargarh MP, Jual Oram
“It was one of the most awaited demands, to connect Jharsuguda with Mumbai and Bengaluru. Lots of people of this region are residing at Bengaluru and Mumbai. For everyone, this is one of the happiest moments. We want to extend thank to Central as well as Odisha Government. We are No. 2 positions under Udan Scheme, in coming days we will try to become No. 1, and for which whatever it will be need we will do it.” Said Suresh Pujari, MP, Bargarh
Nivedita Nanda, Passenger from Mumbai, “I reside at Pune have travelled to Mumbai to catch a flight for VSS Airport, Jharsuguda. We are extremely Happy that these flight services have been started, as I belonged from Bargarh. It is convenient for us to reach home in less time.”
Introduction of direct flights for Bengaluru has also been cheered by the IT professional and students who hail from Western Odisha.
“I am working at Bengaluru and my home is at Burla. Earlier I used to take flights from Bhubaneswar but now it has become more convenient for me that the flight service shave started from VSS Airport. I want to thank everyone for this flight service.” Said an IT employee travelling to Bengaluru.
“This is the most awaited sector, as I am settled at Bengaluru, I use to struggle a lot to come to my native place at Jharsuguda via Bhubaneswar but now I can come easily. As soon as I heard the commencement of flights, I had booked the first flight for Jharsuguda and have arrived today.” Said Sushil Kumar Patnaik, working IT Professional, Bengaluru
Apart from Mumbai and Bengaluru flight which commenced on Tuesday, Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda is also having regular flights for Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai and Bengaluru sector with two Service Providers Spice jet and Alliance Air.
