Jharsuguda : Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari lights hope for much awaited Sampark Setu connecting Jharsuguda with Bargarh District.

On Friday, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari along with PWD and RD department officials of both the districts had conducted a joint survey from Padampur of Bhikhampali under Jharsuguda District to Jerimundi of Bargarh District.

Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari said that “There is no direct communication to Bargarh from Jharsuguda, People have to go via Sambalpur which is nearly 150 Kilometers away from Jharsuguda. From my point of view, the people who have suffered due to displacement after the construction of Hirakud Dam, for them, this Setu will act as a blessing. Additionally, along with this Setu if there is a construction bridge cum barrage then it will not only be beneficial for the communication but also for the irrigation and the fisherman who are depended on this. Even from this barrage, even Power generation can be generated.  Lastly, Bargarh Parliamentary constituency consists of Jharsuguda district and Bargarh District but as per the provision in the delimitation of Act, a Parliamentary Constituency should be a continuous and it should not be a break in the middle. Like in the case of Bargarh Parliament, The constituency has been broken due to Sambalpur in between Bargarh and Jharsuguda, and if Jharsuguda district is connected with Bargarh district through this Setu then this technical issue will also be solved. “
