Sundargarh MLA Smt. Kusum Tete writes to Chief Secretary demanding to defer date fixed by OSPCB for conducting Public hearing of Vedanta Limited
Jharsuguda : Sundargahr MLA Smt. Kusum Tete on Monday has written to Chief Secretary , Asit Tripathy and urged him to defer the date fixed by Odisha Pollution Control Board for conducting a public hearing on the capacity expansion of M/sVedanta Ltd. .
She has also pointed out that Chamber of Commerce with the help of Dist. Adminsitration of Jharsuguda Town has announced shutdown of Jharsuguda and its adjoin ares from 26th Sept. to 3rd Oct. to combat Pandemic COVID19
Conincidentally, the date advertised by OSPCB falls on 30th Spetember for which it is apprehend that justice will not be served to the affected people as it is not possible to attend due to shutdown.
Additionally she also informed that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) may be conducted by some trusteed Governmetn Engineering College like NIT OT IIT to asses the correct data. The ash management by the company is being done in a haphazard manner as its impact has serious consequences to the environment, agricultural land of both Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
Hence , she has requested to extend the date i.e. 30th September to a another suitable date.
