Public Outreach Program on Income Tax Bill, 2025

Jharsuguda: The Jharsuguda Branch of the Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) successfully hosted a Public Outreach Program on the proposed Income Tax Bill, 2025 at the Jharsuguda Engineering School Auditorium on 16th May 2025.

Organized under the aegis of the Direct Tax Committee of ICAI, the program aimed to create awareness among the public about the proposed reforms in the country’s income tax laws and to encourage informed discussions on the Income Tax Bill, 2025.

The event was graced by Tankadhar Tripathy, Hon’ble MLA of Jharsuguda, as the Chief Guest, and F Khirod, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries included CA Biswa Ranjan Sutar, Regional Council Member of EIRC of ICAI, and CA Ayush Agrawal, Guest Speaker and a renowned expert in direct taxation.

CA Sanjay Kumar Sarawgi, Chairman of the Jharsuguda Branch, welcomed all the guests and participants. In his address, he highlighted the importance of tax awareness among citizens and emphasized how the proposed Income Tax Bill, 2025 seeks to simplify, rationalize, and modernize the taxation system for all categories of taxpayers – including salaried individuals, professionals, businesses, and senior citizens.

CA Manish Kumar Didwania, Past Chairman of the Jharsuguda Branch, served as the Master of Ceremonies (MOC) and coordinated the proceedings of the event.

Addressing the audience, Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy appreciated ICAI’s efforts in spreading financial literacy and empowering citizens through knowledge of tax laws. He stressed the need for continuous dialogue between policymakers and the public to build a transparent and inclusive tax environment.

In the technical session, CA Ayush Agrawal delivered a comprehensive yet easily understandable presentation on the key provisions and changes proposed under the new Income Tax Bill. The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from tax professionals, academicians, business owners, students, and members of the general public.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by CA Subhendu Tripathy, Treasurer of the Jharsuguda Branch. He acknowledged the presence and contributions of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, speakers, past chairmen, the managing committee, volunteers, and all participants who made the event a grand success.

This program stands as a testament to ICAI’s commitment to promoting financial literacy, public engagement, and taxpayer education across the country.
