Jharsuguda: In a remarkable step towards promoting literacy, education, and community development, the Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green, in association with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), has inaugurated a public library titled “Flybrary” at Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport, Jharsuguda.

The Flybrary has been set up inside the Security Hold Area of the airport with the vision of transforming passenger waiting time into a productive and enriching experience. This initiative encourages travelers to pick up a book, read while they wait, and even carry it along with them on their journey, with the hope that they will either return it or donate another book in exchange. The space offers a wide range of books, magazines, and educational material in multiple languages for passengers, students, and the local community.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Airport Director Shri Sandeep Tiwari, along with other dignitaries, airport officials, members of the Rotary Club, and residents of the community. In his address, Shri Tiwari said, “Today this library has been set up at the Security Hold Area of VSS Airport with the cooperation of Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green. This will help travelers enjoy reading at the airport, and they can even take books from here with a message that they will return it after reading. All the volunteers are requested to contribute books to this library so that it will continue and get enriched. I sincerely thank Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green for their contribution and cooperation.”

The Flybrary has been designed as a peaceful, inviting space for passengers to relax and engage with meaningful reading material. The project is a reflection of Rotary’s global mission of “Service Above Self” and aims to strengthen the pillars of education, knowledge sharing, and public welfare.

The inauguration was attended by Rotary Club President Rtn Anand Goel, Secretary Rtn CA. Amit Agrawal, Past Presidents Rtn Sajid Hussain and Rtn Harshit Modi, and active members Rtn Naresh Sarawgi, Rtn Raj Hora, Rtn Veena Hussain, and Rtn Gaurav Jain, among others.

The project has been made possible through the support of Rotary members, generous community donors, and well-wishers. The Rotary Club of Jharsuguda Green plans to regularly update the library’s collection and also conduct awareness and reading sessions for children and travelers in the future.

Flybrary is not just a library, but a movement toward creating a culture of reading and learning in public spaces. Passengers and well-wishers are encouraged to donate books to keep this initiative growing and thriving.
