Villagers of Odisha – Chhattisgarh border cry for help after the closure of the inter-state border.
Jharsuguda : Villages of at least six-gram panchayat, namely Kandheikela, Remta, Charpali, Pithinda, Kanaktura and Badimal of Lakhanpur Block under Jharsuguda district, which is located at Chhattisgarh-Odisha border are facing huge problems due to the sealing of interstate border in lockdown period.
Though these villages are situated in Odisha they hugely dependent on Chhattisgarh Market for all their daily needs.
The nearest Market for these villages is Raigarh Market in Chhattisgarh which is around 25 Kilometre whereas in Odisha the nearest market is Jharsuguda, which is around 90-100 Kilometre from these villages.
After the sealing of interstate border, these villagers now want to seek help from the Odisha Government in order to fulfil the daily needs as they fear that the essential commodity will finish very fast in coming few days.
” Our main problem is that in nineteen Village had mainly dependent on Chhattisgarh market only right from grocery items to every household need but right now after the announcement of lockdown and closure of interstate border seal, we are facing a lot like the ration items present in the shops are about to finish. So, I want to request the Odisha Government to arrange these grocery items for the villagers and if it is not done than villagers will face many problems. I believe the government will look into this matter and would take immediate action on it.” said Janardhan Panda, President, Jan Jagran Manch, ( 19 Khand Mauza), Lakhanpur
Jharsuguda District Collector Saroj Kumar Samal said that “he will look into the matter and assured to provide all necessary supplies for the villagers.”
