Normal Life Hit In Jharsuguda Due To 12-Hr Bandh in protest of Shifting of District Headquarter Hospital

Jharsuguda : Normal life was thrown out of gear in Jharsuguda on Wednesday due to 12 hours Bandh observed by locals under the banner of Hanuman Seva Samiti in protest of the relocation of the District �Headquarter Hospital.

Major establishment like Shops, Schools, Bank and other Business establishments remained closed. Even the Passenger buses, other vehicles and long route goods trucks did not ply due to this Bandh.

The Hanuman Seva Samiti has been opposing the relocation of the district headquarters hospital to a newly constructed 300 bedded Hospital building near Malimunda, nearly eight-kilometre far from the Town. Apart from this, three members of the Seva Samiti have resorted to hunger strike near the old hospital building. Among which two had been hospitalized on Wednesday after their health deteriorate.

Several members had blocked the road and picketed various places like Dharamshala Chowk, Station Chowk, Bus stand Chowk in Jharsuguda.

“Due to shifting of this Hospital around 18 wards out of 24 wards will be majorly affected, We want to ask what this the main motive behind shifting of this Hospital to the newly constructed Building? People are demanding to declare the existing hospital into a Sub-divisional Hospital. Government is for the public. Even people are sitting on Hunger strike for this demand. We are requesting that our demand should be fulfilled immediately otherwise we will die but we would not allow this hospital to shift.” said Badal Das, local resident of Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Pattnaik, “We have already written to the Health & Family Welfare Department to declare the old existing Hospital as Sub-divisional Headquarter Hospital for the people of Jharsuguda Town.”
