Jharsuguda to come under CCTV surveillance
Jharsuguda: Now residents of Industrial Town Jharsuguda will soon be under the watchful eyes of the police. Jharsuguda Police administration initiated an ambitious project of installing several closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) across the town and highways.
The hi-tech pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) CCTVs will be installed at all important junctions in this town. This will help police and district administration to keep watch on any incident taking place on the roads.
“We will be installing CCTV almost all important locations in Jharsuguda. In the first phase, we will install 10 PTZ CCTVs including 360-degree movable cameras at some locations. The number of cameras and locations will be increased in the second phase,” said Jharsuguda S.P. Dr Uma Shankar Das
The device installation will be done by Vedanta Aluminum along with the technology partner K-net Broadband. The rest facilities like electricity and place will be provided by Jharsuguda Municipality.
He said CCTV cameras installation are going on at Black Diamond Engineering College Chowk and Beheramal. “At least 8 more points have been marked,” the SP said. He said the cameras will be night-vision enabled and would also capture the letters on registration plates of the vehicles also.
In this regard, a control room has been set up at Jharsuguda S.P. Office for monitoring the cameras, which will be monitor by the technical staff at Jharsuguda S.P. Office.
Subsequently, as per sources after Jharsuguda, Brajrajnagar and Belpahar will also get the CCTV surveillance.
“The CCTV surveillance system will help police control crime. Recently two to three hit and run incident had taken place in Jharsuguda. It will be very helpful in investigating in such cases after the CCTV cameras are installed..” he added
