Jharsuguda: Vedanta Jharsuguda CSR initiatives has delivered a much coveted reading room project for the students and youth of the town. In order to facilitate and strengthen the educational outreach in the area, the company has established a multipurpose reading room and handed it to the district administration for operation in a function held on 10th August 2016 at Sarbahal High school Campus, Jharsuguda on Wednesday.
This proud initiative is the first of its kind to happen in the district of Jharsuguda. The reading room project, which kick-started with the support of local administration got successfully completed in a budget of Rs. 11.5 Lakhs. Considering the community’s reach, the reading room is built in Sarbahal High School Campus.
“It is a much appreciated initiative on the company’s part to have made such an effort so that the youth find enough facilities to educate themselves and polish their employability skills” said Dr. Sitaram Patel, ADM, Jharsuguda who graced the inauguration along with Mr. Bikash Chandra Pradhan , District Education officer, Jharsuguda. Also present were officials from Vedanta including J.K Mohanty, Vice-President Power, who represented the organization during the inaugural ceremony. He commented that “It feels proud to have put in such an effort which will help the communities in Jharsuguda to get informed and educated, which is of utmost importance in today’s scenario”.`
The facility was received with much appreciation and enthusiasm. Also promises were made to increase the scope of education and employability for the local youth.
