Jharsuguda Dist. Administration directs inquiry in MSP Metallics plant Lockout


Jharsuguda: Hundreds of workers & employees of MSP Metallics Ltd. Company located at Marakutta, Jharsuguda had gathered in front of Jharsuguda Collectorate Office in protest of non-payment of their salary for last three months.

As per the sources, the top management of the company had declared a complete lockout of the plant due to some reason since 13th Feb 2016 (Saturday), Due to which workers were in dilemma, if they would get their salary which is due for past three months. Failed to get any answer from the management. On Monday, the workers had gathered in-front of Jharsuguda Collectorate and had put their grievance in-front of Jharsuguda administration.

Jharsuguda Administration had called a meeting at evening in which Jharsuguda Collector had directed Dist. Labour Officer to look into matter immediately and had asked the top management officials of the company to come on 20th Feb 2016 to discuss about this matter.

Company’s top management has been called for a meeting on 20th Feb in which the pending arrears due of workers will be discussed; secondly the lock out report will be submitted to Government as to check whether the lockout declared by the management of the company is legal or illegal. On prima facia, it seems that the lock-down by the industry is not accordance to the provision of Odisha Industrial Dispute Act of 1947. said Arun Kumar Ray, Jharsuguda Dist. Labour officer.
