Biker mowed down by a train �
Jharsuguda:�A Biker, while crossing an abundant railway level crossing at Sarbahal, was hit by a Passenger train and killed on the spot on Thursday morning.
The victim was identified as Narendra Kumar Dwivedy (46), a resident of Allahabad. He was working with a Cement company as a Sales Manager for Jharsuguda and use to live on a rented house in Sarbahal.
�As per the sources, after a new railway level crossing which was built few meters ahead, the old abundant railway level crossing was still in use and was not completely closed due to which people use to commute. At around 9 O�clock on Thursday morning, Narendra was also trying to cross through this abundant railway level crossing, on his Hero Honda Splendor bike (OD – 23 2255) when his bike was hit by coming Sambalpur – Jharsuguda DMU Passenger Train due to which�Narendra died on the spot.
�Later, the locals had blocked the Jharsuguda – Sambalpur Track in protest of non – arrival of GRP officials on the spot even after an hour, for completing formalities due to which the Titlagarh � Sambalpur � Howarh Ispat Express was stranded at Sarbahal for nearly 2 hours.� After the arrival of GRP officials from Sambalpur at around 12 O�clock, the body was sent for the post mortem. �The locals even demanded the permanent closure of this railway crossing so that accidents can be avoided in future.
As per the Jharsuguda GRP ASI Kishan, �As the place of occurrence was falling under the jurisdiction of East Coast Division, Sambalpur. The Sambalpur GRP officials had asked us to visit the spot and help them as they were on their way. Sambalpur GRP officials had arrived and immediately sent the body for the post mortem, following which even the locals had lifted their protest.�
