District administration, police gear up for 2014 Lok Sabha & Assembly polls

Jharsuguda : The Jharsuguda district administration and the police department seem to be gearing up the upcoming Lok Sabha & Assembly elections.

As per the notification issued by the Election Commission of India, two Assembly constituencies, namely, Brajrajnagar and Jharsuguda which would go to poll on April 10 and the process of filing of nomination will begin on March 15.

As per the notification, the last date for filing of nomination is March 22, followed by scrutiny of applications on March 24 and withdrawal of nomination on March 26. Similarly, while elections will be held on April 10, counting of votes will be done on May 16.

According to information available, Jharsuguda Sub Collector Dr. Sitaram Patel of Jharsuguda will act as Returning Officer for both Jharsuguda and Brajrajnagar Parliamentary seat, he will be assisted by four Assistant Returning Officers, two each in both Parliamentary Seat.

To check and monitor any unfair practice, Dist. Administration has formed nine teams under the Election Expenditure Monitoring Cell. Various Teams like Static Surveillance Teams, Video Surveillance Team & Video Viewing Team, Flying Squads and Media Certification and Monitoring Team to monitor the paid news.

Besides, a district-level control room has been set up and any complaint with regard to elections can be lodged at a toll free number “1950”

Jharsuguda police are fully geared up for conducting free and fair election in the district, said SP Mrs. S. Shyni. The police will keep a strict vigil on the law breakers through special squads, she pointed out. The district administration also has started removing all hoardings.
