ULB polls: 211 candidates file papers
Jharsuguda: Elections to urban local bodies (ULBs) in Jharsuguda district was likely to witness a tussle as 84 in Jharsuguda and 127 nominations in Brajrajnagar have been filed for 47 wards together. As Tuesday was the last day for filing nominations, the offices designated to receive nominations witnessed last minute rush with candidates and followers coming in big numbers to complete the formality. Since major political parties candidates had already filed their nomination in almost all the wards of Jharsuguda municipality leaving two wards. While in Brajrajnagar, 23 Congress candidates had filed their nomination on Tuesday.
Apart from the Congress, BJD, this time BJP has also tried to put candidates in almost all the wards of the both Municipality.
On the Last Day of filing Nomination, the BJD Party had taken out a huge rally from Bus stand to the Town Hall near Jharsuguda municipality with all the candidates who were standing from their respective wards of Jharsuguda in coming ULB election. Among which 2 candidates of BJD, 3 Candidates of BJP and 1 Independent had filed nomination in Jharsuguda Municipality while in Brajrajnagar total 58 nominations have been filed including 23 candidates of Congress who filed their nomination.
A total of 84 nominations have been filed to 24 wards of Jharsuguda Municipality. The highest number of nominations (127) in the district has been filed for 23 Wards in Brajrajnagar Municipality.
Brajrajnagar has also recorded the highest number of candidates who have filed their nominations as Independent candidates.
Verification of the papers will be done on Thursday. November 11th will be the last date to withdraw nomination papers.
