Online job racket busted ; 3 held

 


Jharsuguda, 20th March 2013: In a major breakthrough, Jharsuguda Police busted an online job fraud racket and arrested three persons in this connection. Police arrested Rakesh Mishra alias Rocky alias Gupta of Ahaliyapur of Dehuriya (UP) , Bablu alias Abhisek alias Prasant Kumar Singh of Sundergarh and Neeraj Kumar Deo of Dhurvadhihi , Sundergarh.

On March 19th, engineering graduate V. Chandra Shekar and his friend V. Dilip Kumar of Macchlipatanam of Andhra Pradesh lodged a complaint with the Badmal Police Station alleging that they were duped by fraudsters to the tune of Rs. 2 Lakhs with a fake job offer from Vedanta Aluminium Ltd.

As per the Victim V. Chandrasekhar and his friend V. Dilip Kumar told that on 1st of Feb’13 they saw an advertisement posted on Quickr.com website offering “backdoor” job in Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. Using the contact details provided in the advertisement, V. Chandrasekhar got in touch with the “contact” on the mentioned phone number.

The person, who received the call, introduced himself as Rakesh Mishra alias Gupta and posed as HR executive of Vedanta Aluminium. He explained that the job of Graduate Engineering Trainee post would cost him around Rs. 1 lakh each for him as well as his friends and another Rs.10, 000 rupees for the documentation. After taking in confidence of the candidates, the three accused had posed the company’s HR officials and had taken an interview on 18th of Feb 2013 at Hotel Five Elements situated in front of the Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. The Victim and his friend V. Dilip Kumar who were desperate to get this job had taken gold loan to pay the amount to Rakesh Mishra alias Gupta. Soon after the interview on March 02nd, they had received an offer letter through a fake email id i.e. [email protected].They paid him Rs. 1 Lakh rupees in Cash and another Rs. 1, 10,000 through a bank deposit.

The Fraud came to light when these two victims Chandrasekhar and his friend Dilip Kumar had came to Vedanta Aluminium Office at Jharsuguda with the offer Letter. On reaching the Vedanta Aluminium Office, they were shocked to know that the offer letter was a fake. Even the Vedanta officials had done internal enquiry about this offer and found that this was a fake one and asked the victims to lodge a complaint at the Badmal Police Station.

Based on the complaint lodged by Chandrasekhar and his friend Dilip Kumar yesterday, the Jharsuguda Police began probe and managed to nab Rakesh Mishra and based on his confession, the remaining three accused were arrested also arrested. A sum of Rs. 35,000 was recovered from them. As per the Police Rakesh Mishra and Bablu have been working as a agent and supplying labours to various Companies under Vedanta Aluminium Plant.

“Another mastermind behind this racket is still on the run and would be nabbed very soon. Additionally, he has also urged the job aspirants and their guardian to not to believe and fall prey in such types of Online Job” said by SDPO Fagua Singh

However the Vedanta Aluminium officials have said that the email used by the fraudster is a fake one and the name of person appearing in the email id has left the company around 2 years ago. Additionally they have urged the candidates not to believe on the online job posted by the touts and agents.
