Bus Torched | Tension at Badmal Chowk over a death of a minor
Jharsuguda:�In a tragic incident a 14 year child Khirod Majhi S/o Bhubaneswar Majhi, who had gone for an answering natures call at an Ash dumping yard belonging to Bhusan Steel and Power Ltd. at Harekrushnapur villages died due to the ash dumped over him by an unloading truck. This incident took place at morning 4.30 A.M. following which the agitated villagers on Wednesday had blocked Sambalpur � Rourkela state highway (SH – 10) for nearly 6 hours from 9 in the morning. Agitated villagers demanded immediate shutdown of ash dumping of Bhusan Steel as the Company as the company is located at Sambalpur and have been dumping in Jharsuguda District, Secondly correct compensation to the victim�s family with a permanent Job, Thirdly arrest of the GM of Company along with arrest of driver.
Due to the road block several passenger busses , Car, Truck , Auto along with several transportation was hit, even the commuters who were travelling in these vehicles where lying stranded with food and water in scorching sun for hours.
Initially, the Tahsildhar Rajendra Minz along with SDPO Fagua Singh had put in several attempts to lift the agitation but the agitator had refused to call off this agitation and demanded the company officials to visit the place and give a written assurance.
Sub Collector Sukant Tripathy along with Police Administration and Dist. Administration alogn with Bhushan Officials had come for the talks at Badmal Police station meanwhile some agitators had torched the bus from inside belonging to Bhusan Steel Company which was parked just near the agitation place. �Along with the bus nearby one pan shop had also caught fire. Fire tenders had rushed the spot and had put off the fire immediately.
While unable to tollerate further Jharsuguda Police administration lathi charged the agitator�s and removed them from the site and had taken several agitators into their custody for breaking law and order. Even Jharsuguda Police Superintendent Dilip Kumar Deo had rushed to the spot and assessed the situation.
Total 13 agitators were booked under Sec 143,341,342,506,149,435 IPC Case No. 57 dated 8.05.2013 and had been forwarded to court.
