Star Air Launches Direct Flight Between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda from August 16

Jharsuguda : In a major boost to regional connectivity within Odisha from VSS airport, Star Air Airlines has announced the commencement of its direct flight service between Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar starting August 16, 2025. With this, Bhubaneswar becomes the 26th station on Star Air’s rapidly expanding network.
The route will operate with introductory fares starting at ₹1599 from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda and ₹1699 for the return journey, offering an affordable and efficient travel option for passengers between the state capital and Odisha’s industrial hub.
The new service is expected to significantly benefit both business and leisure travelers. Jharsuguda, often referred to as the industrial powerhouse of western Odisha, is home to key sectors such as coal mining, aluminum production, and thermal power generation. On the other hand, Bhubaneswar is a thriving center for administration, education, and IT, making the route crucial for intra-state economic synergy.
Commenting on the launch, Ms. Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, Star Air, said,

The flights will be operated using modern Embraer E175 aircraft, offering a comfortable and premium flying experience with world-class service for the air travellers. The service is expected to improve accessibility, cut travel time significantly, and contribute to the state’s vision of improved regional air connectivity.
Previously, Alliance Air was operating flights to Bhubaneswar but has currently suspended its services due to Viability Gap Funding (VGF) issues. Although the VGF issue has been resolved, Alliance Air is yet to resume operations. Meanwhile, Star Air is set to launch its Bhubaneswar flight services from 16th August, while Alliance Air has not yet announced any plans to restart its operations
