Jharsuguda: The Adarsha Seva Organization has expressed its strong support for the government’s initiative to create a “Child Marriage-Free India.” This support coincided with the launch of the nationwide campaign by the central government in New Delhi, aimed at eradicating child marriages. At the same time, a significant event took place at the Government Higher Secondary School in Sripura, where a pledge-taking ceremony was conducted against child marriage.
Teachers, students, and over 250 workers from Jharsuguda district, organized by Adarsha Seva Organization, participated in the event and pledged to work towards making the district free of child marriages.
The Adarsha Seva Organization has been instrumental in advocating for child rights and justice, with over 250 NGO members nationwide. These organizations, part of the Just Rights for Children (JRC) network, are working to secure children’s safety and rights across India.
In the backdrop of the campaign launched by the Indian government against child marriage, rallies and pledge-taking ceremonies were organized by the Adarsha Seva Organization in Jharsuguda. The district has witnessed active participation from local villagers, village heads, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, teachers, and women who took an oath to participate in district-wide programs to end child marriage.
This district-level initiative was also aligned with the national campaign launched by Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, on November 27. She announced the “Child Marriage-Free India” campaign and encouraged every Gram Panchayat and school across the nation to take the pledge against child marriage. The campaign is expected to reach 250 million people and raise awareness across the country. Additionally, a national portal was launched to facilitate easy reporting of child marriages.
The Adarsha Seva Organization’s editor commented that the national campaign will further accelerate their work, helping to create awareness about child marriages and prevent such marriages with the cooperation of government officials and local leaders. The organization is confident that this campaign will bring a new wave of support and energy to their ongoing efforts, ultimately leading to the elimination of child marriages in India. With this initiative, they believe India will set an example to the world that child marriage will no longer be tolerated, and they are committed to ensuring every child enjoys a safe and appropriate childhood.
