Odisha Launches Home Delivery of Midday Meals for Sick and Disabled Students
Bhubaneswar: The School and Public Education Department of Odisha has initiated a process to provide dry rations for midday meals to sick and disabled students aged 6 to 14 who are unable to attend school. The students will receive midday rice at their homes according to their class, and the money for cooking will be deposited into their bank accounts. Additionally, arrangements have been made to deliver the students’ textbooks to their homes. This system will benefit 3694 students in the state.
The School and Public Education Department has instructed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to deliver dry rations to the homes of students who are unable to attend school. However, the process of delivering dry rations and textbooks to the children has already begun.
Students who are unable to come to school can seek assistance from the organiser, Asha Karmi, ANM, or ARBSK in their area if they have any problems. These students will be taken to the nearest health centre or Anganwadi centre for regular health check-ups and counselling.
In addition, school teachers, Block Associate Officers (BRPs), and IEVs will visit the homes of these students who are unable to attend school every month for supervision. They will inquire about the students’ studies and how much they are improving in reading. Counselling will also be provided to the parents for the students better performance.
