Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda Dist. Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Pattnaik inaugurated a 15-bedded �de-addiction centre at Suliapada, Near Housing Colony, Buxi Chowk on Tuesday. This is first such facility in the district.
The purpose of opening the centre is to help the people who are addicted to alcohol and other drugs. They will avail treatment free to get rid of their addiction free of cost at the centre.
Two Psychiatric, Two MBBS doctors, One Pharmacist, Two staff nurses and Two counsellors will join the centre. Moreover, an Ambulance will also be provided to the centre. Around Rs.22.99 Lakhs will be on this centre per annum will be given from the Jharsuguda District Mineral Foundation. The De-addiction centre is being managed by Bhubaneswar-based NGO – People’s Forum.
Amrut Kumar Prusty, the Chief Programme Officer of People’s Forum said ” We will be focusing how we can minimise the drugs addiction among the addicts of the district. We will visit village to village in the district for creating the awareness. The drug-addicts to this centre will be treated free of cost. We would also engage them in some activity so that they will not re-use the drugs again.”
People coming to the de-addiction centre will not have to pay anything. All medicine and fooding will be bear by the NGO managing this. Even if the patient is unable to reach the centre, there will be an Ambulance to pick the patient free of cost.
“De-addiction centre was not present in our district. This centre will focus to make a drug addict free from the addiction free of cost.� We think that person who is addict who can’t live without the drugs can be beneficial, they have to come to this centre but the addict won’t come, their family members and well wisher have to bring them to this centre.” said Jharsuguda District Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Pattnaik
