Jharsuguda Police Sets Record with Mega Blood Donation Camp
2,117 Units Collected in a Day, Highest by any Police Unit in Odisha

Jharsuguda : In a landmark initiative of Jharsuguda Police led by Jharsuguda SP Smit P Parmar, organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp on Thursday at Auditorium cum Sports Complex, Mangal Bazaar, achieving a historic milestone in public health and community engagement. The event saw the collection of a record-breaking 2,117 units of blood in a single day—the highest ever by any police unit in the history of Odisha.
The large-scale drive drew participation from across the Jharsuguda subdivision, with support pouring in from every section of society. Public representatives from various constituencies, residents of all panchayats and municipal wards, NGOs, NCC cadets, youth groups, industrial establishments, and media professionals all joined hands to make the event a grand success.
“This is not just a record—it’s a reflection of Jharsuguda’s collective spirit and humanity,” said SP Smit P Parmar. “The overwhelming response showcases how police-public partnership can bring about extraordinary outcomes for society.”
The effort was further strengthened by the participation of five major blood banks from across Western Odisha, Burla which collected 680 units, Jharsuguda which collected 442 units, Sambalpur which collected 402 units, Sundargarh which collected 301 units and Bargarh which collected 292 units
The Jharsuguda Police expressed heartfelt gratitude to every blood donor, volunteer, civil society member, and institution that contributed to the success of this initiative. The event not only set a new benchmark in blood donation efforts but also reinforced the commitment of the Jharsuguda Police towards public welfare and service beyond policing.
