Jharsuguda Police, in coordination with the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF), on Monday arrested two individuals involved in the brutal murder of a father-son duo in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

Jharsuguda: In a significant breakthrough, Jharsuguda Police, in coordination with the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF), on Monday arrested two individuals involved in the brutal murder of a father-son duo in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The killings occurred during the Murshidabad violence that broke out amid protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Police have also detained six other individuals for their alleged involvement in the Murshidabad violence.
Police identified the two accused as Bani Israel (24) and Sefaul Haque (21), both sons of Ziaul Haque from Sulitala village under Samserganj police station, Murshidabad.
Other Six who have allegedly invovled in Murshidabad violence were identified as Babul Sk (24), Abdul Khalek (24), Saba Karim (25), of Ratanpur village, Roni Sk (23), of Dakhin Antadepa village, Manarul Sk (54), of Bhasaipaikar village, and Azfarul Sk (21), of Samserganj village. All are residents of areas under Samserganj PS in Murshidabad district, West Bengal.
The Two accused Bani Israel and Sefual Haque were allegedly involved in murder of one Haragobindo Das (72) and his son Chandan Das (40) and registered under Samserganj Police Station in Murshidabad district of West Bengal under Sections 103/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have also seized one country-made pistol with two live 7.62 mm rounds, recovered from accuse Bani Israel along with four 9 mm empty cartridge cases (seized from the site of the attempted escape)
Jharsuguda SP Smit P Parmar said, “On Sunday, the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrived in Jharsuguda in the second half of the day. They informed us that they intended to conduct raids related to violence cases registered under Samserganj Police Station in Murshidabad. Among these cases was the murder of a father-son duo. Initially, the STF provided details of two suspects. After tracing their whereabouts, we located and identified them in the Bandhabahal area. During a late-night raid on Sunday, we apprehended Bani Israel and Sefaul Haque. While we were preparing to bring them in, a search was conducted, during which a pistol was recovered. At that moment, the duo attempted to flee from police custody. However, the police team fired controlled warning shots in the air to stop them, ensuring no injuries occurred. The situation was quickly brought under control, and both accused were successfully nabbed. During the operation, it was also observed that several individuals from Murshidabad were residing in that area. A joint raid was carried out with the West Bengal STF, resulting in the detention of six more suspects allegedly involved in the Murshidabad violence. All detained individuals will be handed over to the West Bengal Police for further investigation.”
