Woman Reunites with Family After Five Years Following Treatment at Mission Ashra.

Jharsuguda: In an emotional homecoming, a mentally challenged woman named Anja (Janaki Patra), who was rescued from the Hungipatali area of Jharsuguda five years ago, was reunited with her family today at Mission Ashra 1. The center is managed by the District Administration, District Mineral oundation, and People’s Forum.

Anja was found wandering in the Hungipatali area and was admitted to Mission Ashra 1, where she received dedicated care, counseling, and regular medication. After five years of continuous support, Anja regained her memory and recalled her home address in Sahada village under Singla Police Station in Balasore district. She shared this information with the staff at Mission Ashra, who then contacted Singla Police Station to trace her family.

Upon receiving confirmation from the police, Anja’s family members reached out to the staff at Mission Ashra 1. Today, on the 28th, her husband, mother, and brother arrived at the center, and the reunion was filled with emotional moments as they embraced Anja after years of separation.

According to her family, Anja’s mental health began to deteriorate in 2019, and she went missing in 2020. Despite extensive searches during the COVID-19 period, they were unable to find her.

The homecoming ceremony was attended by District Social Security Officer Mr. Sunil Kumar Nayak, People’s Forum Western Region Head Mr. Sanjay Jethi, and other staff members of Mission Ashra. On this occasion, a portrait of Lord Jagannath was presented to Anja by the District Social Security Officer, with prayers for her prosperous future. Additionally, the other residents of Mission Ashra bid Anja a heartfelt farewell.

This emotional reunion highlights the significant role of Mission Ashra and the collaborative efforts of the District Administration and People’s Forum in reuniting missing persons with their families.
