Team Save Jharsuguda Volunteers Transform Neglected Puruna Bus Stop into a Functional Space Through a Community Cleanliness Drive and Addressing Lack of Maintenance.
Jharsuguda: It has often been observed that many government and non-government organizations create facilities for public use to earn praise but fail to maintain them. As a result, people benefit from these facilities for a short time, but due to lack of upkeep and cleanliness, these spaces become unusable over time.
A similar situation was seen near the market area of Puruna village in Jharsuguda district. A bus stop built there a few days ago had become non-functional due to poor maintenance and cleanliness. The bus stop was surrounded by large bushes, making it inaccessible for people to sit and wait for buses. Consequently, commuters were forced to stand on the roadside in the scorching sun.
Seeing no action from the administration or other organizations, the members of a local voluntary organization, Team Save Jharsuguda, took it upon themselves to clean the bus stop and make it usable again.
Today, the team members carried out a cleanliness drive and transformed the bus stop into a functional space for public use. Prominent members of Team Save Jharsuguda, including Vinay Rajak, Ajit Majhi, Anup Maharana, Shravan Sahu, Laxman Toppo, Jitendra Mahanandia, Rosin Bara, Chintu Patnaik, Abinas, and Prakash Pradhan, along with other volunteers, participated in the initiative.
This effort has been widely appreciated by the local community, who can now use the bus stop comfortably.
