Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit submitted a memorandum to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for developing a 4-lane road along NH-49 at Brajrajnagar and constructing an overbridge across the IB River
Jharsuguda: Bargarh MP Pradeep Purohit has submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, emphasizing the urgent need for infrastructure upgrades along NH-49 in Brajrajnagar, a significant industrial and commercial hub under his parliamentary constituency.
The memorandum highlights two critical projects: the construction of a 4-lane road at Brajrajnagar and an overbridge across the IB River. These projects aim to address the increasing traffic volume and safety concerns, facilitating smoother movement of goods and people in the region.
MP Purohit pointed out that the existing two-lane road on NH-49 is insufficient to accommodate the growing vehicular traffic, leading to frequent congestion and delays. Expanding this stretch into a 4-lane road is crucial for enhancing connectivity and ensuring seamless travel for commuters and transporters.
Equally important is the construction of an overbridge across the IB River. Currently, the lack of a robust bridge causes severe disruptions, especially during the monsoon season when the river overflows. This results in delays, safety risks, and challenges for heavy vehicular movement, which in turn hampers the transportation of goods essential to the region’s industrial activities.
“The development of a 4-lane road and the construction of an overbridge will not only address current infrastructure challenges but also support the future growth of Brajrajnagar as an economic corridor,” stated MP Purohit in his appeal to the minister. He emphasized that these projects are vital for boosting trade and commerce, improving safety, and accelerating the socio-economic development of the area.
The memorandum urges immediate action from the concerned authorities to prioritize these projects. The proposed developments are expected to enhance connectivity between Odisha and neighboring states, ensuring sustainable growth in one of the state’s key industrial regions.
