Empowerment Through Skill Development: Workshop on DIYA BATTI and CANDLE making held in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda : A transformative skill development workshop on DIYA BATTI and FANCY CANDLE-making was held on Friday at the BJP party office on Bypass Road, near the Maruti Showroom. Organized by the Narasingh Tripathy Charitable Trust, the initiative aimed to empower women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with practical skills for economic independence.
Gudiya Tripathy, the trustee of the Narasingh Tripathy Charitable Trust, emphasized the importance of this workshop. “We want to show women how they can stand on their own feet and create their income,” she stated. The workshop included a hands-on demonstration of making DIYA BATTI, traditionally used for puja during festivals such as Diwali and Christmas. Participants learned to craft a ghee-based diya, designed for convenience, especially for busy mornings.
In addition to DIYA BATTI, the workshop showcased a variety of candle-making techniques. Participants explored options such as fragrant candles shaped like laddus and elegant rose candles, all produced using silicone moulds to ensure hygiene and reduce environmental impact.
This initiative aims to equip women with valuable skills and opens up avenues for income generation, fostering a sense of empowerment and community resilience. The Narasingh Tripathy Charitable Trust remains committed to supporting local women in their financial independence and self-sufficiency journey.
