Jharsuguda : A group of concerned residents from Sarbahal met with Senior Divisional Engineer (DEN) L. B. Jena of the East Coast Railway at the Sambalpur Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office, urging the authorities to reconsider the planned closure of the Sarbahal Railway Crossing. The closure, which was notified to take effect from 29th August, has sparked concerns among local residents who rely heavily on the crossing for daily commutes.

The delegation, including prominent community members Bhabatosh Mishra, Rajesh Padhi, Saroj Panda, Saroj Padhee, Pradip Pujari, and Pankaj Mohanty, engaged in a productive discussion with Sr. DEN Jena. The residents emphasized the critical importance of the crossing for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, highlighting the inconvenience and potential safety risks that could arise from its closure.

In response to their concerns, Sr. DEN Jena assured the residents that the railway crossing will not be closed as initially planned. He further added that he would escalate the issue to higher authorities and consider the possibility of constructing a pedestrian subway to facilitate safe and uninterrupted movement for pedestrians.
